093 | Go For A Quick Spin 06/16/2025

Today I'd planned to do a bike ride after I finished my workday - I had it planned quite perfectly, too.

About 1:30pm, just as I sat down to write this invitation, I heard a loud clap of thunder.

I looked at the weather and saw the storms were just south of us, and the rain was headed our way by 2:30pm.

Matt looked at me and asked - "go now?".

YEP.

So, we went for a quick spin. I threw my carefully curated plans out the window - embracing what the moment offered - and we rode just over 8 miles before pulling back into our yard, just as the rain started to fall.

The bike ride was a priority and in order to keep it a priority, the day demanded that I let go of what I thought was best and flow with what was presented instead.

Did I ride as far as I'd originally planned? No.

Does it matter? Not even a bit.

Right now, I'm building habits, putting in the reps, and riding 8 miles is better than riding zero.

This week, I’m asking you:

What’s your quick spin?
✨ What’s the thing you’re committed to—big or small—that you can honor, even if it’s just for five minutes?

I’d love to hear. Drop a note in the comments and share what you’re choosing to prioritize.

Until next week,
Leslie

Hi @Leslie Eades , Hi @Matt Wagner , I'm struggling mentally with my "quick spin" activities lately, but after an excellent pep talk earlier today (Matt), I feel a little bit better. I'm learning about the difference between solitude and loneliness. And also, sometimes you have to do something you don't want to do (which I know, but one always hopes there is positive motivation behind one's actions). You do it anyway, despite your thoughts. Very tiring for the brain, though I will say. Certainly much more tiring than the physical exercise I'm trying to accomplish, that's for sure.

@Leslie Mollner I hear you and thank you for sharing this - I'm curious ... are there any "quick spin" activities that you would enjoy doing that aren't related to physical exercise? I appreciate you sharing what you're learning about solitude vs loneliness as well. You're doing amazing work, Leslie! We're honored to be witness to it all.

@Leslie & Matt Hadn't thought of "quick spin" outside of physical activity yet. However, I will now ponder that idea. I don't have anything that comes to mind immediately.
