During last week's Self-Care Call I talked about the invisible reps we put into the vocational, educational, passion projects, wellness, or other goals we have.
When we talk about setting goals, it’s not actually about achieving the goals that matters – it’s the intentionality we bring in creating and living them.
I saw the term “invisible reps” last week in an article about how most people quit working towards something when it either gets difficult and/or they can’t see their results quick enough.
And sometimes it’s like that, right? You can work seemingly tirelessly towards something and you don’t feel like you’re seeing the results you want.
But, is what you’re seeing reality?
Or has your perception of what the “result” is changed?
It’s typical for us to be harsh on ourselves - especially when we’re trying something new, something challenging, or even when we see ourselves “failing”.
So, thinking about the “invisible reps” is really an act of intentionality - it’s bringing awareness to the work you actually have been doing, and honoring yourself for the progress you’ve made so far – even if it’s not the “end result” you’re trying to achieve.
There’s so much we each do that no one else sees. And that is what is so important to remember. It’s every time you make a microdecision that leads to you feeling better, to taking care of yourself, and in reality, putting in the work to meet the goals you set for yourself (or accepting when you change your mind somewhere along the way, because that’s okay, too).
This month, I invite you to think about something that you’ve been working towards. Name the thing. And then honor the work you’ve already done. Acknowledge the progress you’ve already made.
Keep in mind - these don’t have to be “big” milestones -
...every tiny, microshift in our actions and perceptions is a pivotal pathway towards creating the transformation we desire.
If you feel compelled, let us know in the comments what comes up.
And, later this week, stay tuned for the official announcement on changes coming to the LMNTL Community - we’ll chat soon!
With gratitude,
Leslie
